Draper Wildlife Management

Draper Wildlife Management

We caught peak Sunflower season at Draper Wildlife Management in McConnells SC last weekend and it was AMAZING. The fields are only in bloom for about two weeks so you have to keep a close eye on their website to know when to visit. Draper Wildlife Management is around an hour drive from where we live in Charlotte. We packed up early Friday morning and drove out there to take some photos before it got crowded.

We had some trouble finding the parking area, our GPS actually took us to the museum parking lot in Historic Brattonsville. It took us around 30 minutes to figure out where we went wrong, but we eventually realized we passed the parking lot we were looking for. Once you park, you take the trail near the left gate through the woods. From there you follow the path a short ways to the fields. There are multiple fields that are in peak bloom at different times. We walked past the first couple and found the perfect field right near a big beautiful tree.

Neither of us had seen this many sunflowers before and we had a great time taking photos even though it was super hot. When we reached the car a photographer told us there was a small pond at the other end of the parking lot that we should check out. We grabbed our blanket we bought from Sleepy Poet Antique Mall and walked to find the pond. When we arrived it was stunning, the area was virtually empty and the sky was reflecting in the water. It was amazing to end our visit with such a beautiful unexpected surprise! Keep exploring friends!
